Is it weird

that i really wanna wear an agbada? Like, i don't wanna wear it anyplace. I just wanna try it on and see what it feels like. As extravagant as they look, i've always imagined that they were just super uncomfortable. All that fabric and having to constantly fiddle with the sleeves. But i can't front. They are very flyyyy.

What a wild week its been

In the US at least.

Paula Deen and her bullshit

Somebody called Clarence Thomas an Uncle Tom (and then someone tried to come for me on Tumblr because apparently i wasn't outraged enough about this...what can i tell ya. I'm not here for Clarence Thomas and his bullshit)

That prep school in Ohio offers up a faux-pology for saying, in a roundabout way, that they wouldn't allow their black students to rock their hair in its natural state. This is a carry-over from a week or so ago.

That dude from the Patriots arrested for murder

Wendy Davis and her pink Nike sneakers filibustering efforts to kill a proposed abortion bill in Texas which called for her to talk for 11+ hours non-stop, which includes no bathroom breaks, no leaning, no water breaks, and no going off topic. This lady is freakin awesome for that.
sidenote: despite Senator Davis's efforts, The GOP manipulated their time clocks to make it seem like they were able to vote and pas said abortion bill before midnight. These people really are a disgrace

SCOTUS finds DOMA unconstitutional...

but they have no problem telling states that they are allowed to suppress my vote.

Indeed it has been an eventful week on this side of the pond.

ETA: And how did i forget to mention that Texas executed it's 500th death row inmate (and the first woman in over 3 years). Less than 24 hours after the whole abortion bill shenanigans  and they proclaimed how much Texans care about life. Yeah, ok. (I swear, Pro-Life fanatics slay me, pun intended)

Christian Conundrum

I remember reading an article a few months ago about a (single) woman working at a Christian university* that ended up getting pregnant and was subsequently fired because said pregnancy was proof that she obviously wasn't living a "Christian lifestyle". While i understand and accept that as a leader of sorts in this type of environment, you are supposed to accept the role of  living up to whatever dogma/doctrine/beliefs that the powers that be have (which usually includes signing a lifestyle contract of some sort) as well as setting an example and helping cultivate the spiritual growth of the young adults you work with...but come on! Doesn't seem very Godly or Christlike to throw a pregnant woman out on the street. Its actually downright cruel. This is probably the time where being gainfully employed is most important in her life. Do you know how much it costs to have a in just to give birth? Not to talk of the prenatal and postnatal care, actually raising the baby, etc etc. And thats costly even with health insurance. Without her job, she likely is without health insurance as well. Just awful. I mean, would they rather she have had an abortion to save face? Not to mention that shortly thereafter her and the baby daddy (who was her fiance at the time) got married. I guess their effort to not seem like monsters was that after firing the woman, they offered her job to the baby daddy. As if he was not as guilty of the premarital sex that they just fired the woman for. SMH.

Somebody needs to take a minute out and listen to Donnie McClurkin.

*By Christian university, i'm referring to an college/university that is affiliated with a Christian church...not a seminary or theological institution

I love really love windows (not the computer program)! Stuff like this is just amazeballs to me. But i could never live in a place that has windows like this. I'm something of a Paranoid Schizophrenic. Having all these windows would have me thinking that someone was constantly spying on me. And i mean, why wouldn't they? Who wouldn't want to catch a glimpse of all this fabulousness?

I also love balconies. They don't even have to be nice balconies. Just having a little outdoor space where i can go and unwind with a glass of wine and catch a cool breeze. AMAZING! I miss that. But that's only if it is off of the living room. As super-splendiforous as i think it would be to have a set of French doors that open up to a sexy balcony with an equally sexy view from my bedroom, i'm also ridiculously paranoid that someone is going to break into my home in the middle of the night as i sleep. And if that should happen, God forbid, i need there to be as many barriers between them and myself as human possible. Doesn't help if they can climb into my bedroom with the greatest of ease. Thats also why i never rent apartments on the first floor. If you're gonna rob me, dammit you're gonna work for it!

And there are no words to describe how much i love the water. Beaches, rivers, lakes, it all.Could explain why i started my life on long island and transferred said life to a coastal city in florida lol. The catch...i have no idea how to swim! I don't like getting my face or my hair wet, im not a fan of myself in a bathing suit and have no interest in being a snack for Jaws, or an Alligator. But looking at the water is sooooooooo relaxing. As long as i don't have to get in it...well i'll stick my toes in but thats it. Oh and i'm definitelty no stranger to a nice jacuzzi lol. I even like watching the rain.

I'm just a juicy starbursts. Or super paranoid. Whatever the case, i thank you for taking this trip down the rabbit hole that is my ridiculous brain. :)

Your Good Love Deserves An Encore

Man this song came on the radio while i was driving home from the salon yesterday...

And man was i jamming. Had my whole car shaking. People in the cars around me were looking at me all  crazy. I don't give a damn. This is my joint. I keep telling folks, i was born in the wrong decade. I love 70s and 80s music too much.

I suppose its worth mentioning that yesterday was the first time i got a relaxer in like 6 months. I truly pity any stylist that has to deal with me and my hair shenanigans. Its bad enough that i don't take care of my hair. Then it has the nerve to be thick as hayle. AND have like a quadruple 4c curl pattern lol. I've never been to a salon when they didn't comment on how damn thick and nappy curly my hair is lol. And i'm sure it doesn't help that i have big ass head too which just means even more hair to work with lol. Having to deal with people like me is why i'll never even entertain the idea of being a beautician.

I feel even worse because i only paid $35. they saying goes, you get what you pay for. That $35 only covered the relaxer, washing it out, and drying it. No style, no wrap, no nada. All that would've been extra. I'm so cheap lol.

Happy Friday...Happy 1st Day of Summer...Happy Belated Juneteenth...Enjoy you weekend!

Abeg, SHIIIIIIIIIIIFT! I don't need a diva dude!

I'm sorry, but there is something ridiculously wrong with a man that literally needs to feel needed. Have you people learned nothing from Ne-Yo and Jamie Foxx?
There's nothing thats more sexy than a girl that wants but don't need me! -She Got Her Own (Miss Independent Remix)
I personally prefer to be wanted. If i'm only around because you need me (need something from me), then what happens when you don't need me anymore? Exaaaaaaaaaactly!

And whats ridiculous is that these same men that complain about feeling emasculated because their babe changed a light bulb (after asking bobo to do it a week earlier to no avail) are the same ones that will complain that they don't want a needy chick.

Yet they say women are the ones that don't know what they want. SMH

And the Zimmerman Trial begins

I don't know why i didn't realize that i was going to practically have a front row seat to this crap but now that the time has arrived...i really wish they'd take this ish elsewhere. I literally live like 5 minutes away from the courthouse and I am not looking forward to the bs this trial is sure to bring to the area. I did actually contemplate entering the drawing to see if i could get to sit in on the trial but i truly can't be bothered. Plus i'm not trying to hear any bs in that courtroom that might lead to me engaging in behaviors that may or may not lead to my arrest.

Sanford FL really is a ridiculous place. As if this whole fiasco wasn't enough, we were in the news again a few days ago because of some nonsense. Apparently a deliveryman from Papa Johns unknowingly pocket-dialed a customer he had just delivered to while he went on a racist rant...because he felt that he deserved a bigger tip. But you know folks don't really need a reason to bad mouth black people. The dude did end up getting fired.

And in continuing racist/bitch you tried it news, I hope you all heard about the situation that went down with my FLOTUS the other day (if you haven't, here ya go). Let me just tell you, I am so not here for white woman tears. At All. How dare you, at a $500-$10000 per ticket private fundraiser, jump up and interrupt my FLOTUS talking some nonsense? And then have the nerve to talk about how stunned you are that she proceeded to put you in your place?!? Get the entire eff outta here. And this is why i don't need to marry someone who might be President someday. Because i would be snatching wigs left right and center! So now we have all these people calling my Fabulous FLOTUS an ABW and all that jazz. But they can kiss my grits. You don't get to disrespect someone then play the victim when they call you on your bs. And I guarantee the same people going off on Shelly O for letting that piece of trash know her place, are the same ones that would've been talking a mile a minute if she didn't say anything to her at all. SMH

[/end rant]

If you're considering a career in prostitution...

or any other shady dealings that involve sex and money being exchanged during the evening hours, then you might wanna stay out of Texas.

A Texas jury acquitted a man of murder after he argued that he didn't intend to kill an escort whom he offered $150 for sex.
Ezekiel Gilbert, 30, faced life in prison after he shot Craigslist escort Lenora Ivie Frago, 23, in the neck on Christmas Eve 2009. She was paralyzed, and died seven months later from complications, according to theSan Antonio Express-News.
A Bexar County jury on Wednesday acquitted him because of a Texas law that allows people to use deadly force to recover property during a nighttime theft.
Gilbert argued that he met Frago on Craigslist and paid her $150 for sex, but she left without having sex and gave the money to her driver.
Prosecutors argued that the Texas law was put in place for "law-abiding" citizens, not people trying to force others into prostitution. But Gilbert's defense team contended that he was justified because the "prostitution" was really a scam to steal his money, and didn't intend to kill Frago, according to the Associated Press.
Gilbert embraced his attorneys when the not-guilty verdict was read in court, Gawker reports.
"I sincerely regret the loss of the life of Ms. Frago," he said. "I've been in a mental prison the past four years of my life. I have nightmares. If I see guns on TV where people are getting killed, I change the channel."

So we meet again...

You know you're living a rough life when you break into a full-on praise dance because you found $4 in your purse. smh.

So random fact of the day. On my way to la oficina, i made a pitstop at 7-eleven and i bumped into a very familiar face. It took me a while to figure out where i knew this dude from but then it dawned on me. The gentleman standing before me was none other than "mr. beautiful hazel brown eyes" that i met during my internship last year. I guess i was wrong when i said that was the end of our story lol.

Well nothing happened, we exchanged pleasantries and then i went on about my business. Just thought i'd mention it tho ;)

In other sexy news, can i just share that i am ridiculously oblivious sometimes. A few days ago i went to the local library to return some severely overdue books. I get out of my car and walk up to the door and get stopped by this man. At first i thought he was just gonna say hello and go on about his life but this dude ended up engaging me in a full on dialogue...asking about my sorority, if there were any "good women" in my sorority, where i went to school, blah blah blah. Every time i tried to inch my way closer to the door as the subtle "will you freaking go somewhere" signal, he'd just come closer and keep on talking. SMH. Here's where the obliviousness part comes in...i honestly had no idea that he was flirting with me all that while. I seriously thought that he was just one of those random southern weirdos that talks the ears off of strangers. Even after he damn near kissed my hand, commented on how soft and dainty it was, and complimented me on the fact that i wear my own natural nails lol. I didn't get the hint until he asked for my number. Sad.
